Perfect Love.

I read this today and thought I'd share...

No, not until you are satisfied and fulfilled and content with living loved by Me alone, with giving yourself totally and unreservedly to Me, to have an intensely personal and unique relationship with Me alone. I love you, my child, and until you discover that only in Me is your satisfaction to be found, you will not be capable of the perfect human relationship that I have planned for you. You will never be united with another until you are united with Me – exclusive of any other desires and longing. I want you to stop planning, stop wishing, and allow Me to give you the most thrilling plan existing – one that you cannot imagine. I want you to have the BEST. Please allow Me to bring it to you. You keep watching Me, expecting the greatest things. Keep that satisfaction, knowing that I AM. Keep learning and listening to the things I tell you; and you must wait.

Don’t be anxious, and don’t worry. Don’t look around at the things others have gotten or that I have given them. Don’t look at the things you think you want. Just keep looking off and away and up to Me, or you’ll miss what I have to show you.

And then, when you’re ready, I’ll surprise you with a love far more wonderful than you would ever dream. You see, until you are ready, and until the one I have for you is ready (I am working right this minute to have both of you ready at the same time), and until you are both satisfied exclusively with Me and the life I’ve prepared for you, you won’t be able to experience the love that exemplifies your relationship with Me, and this is the perfect love.

And, My dear one, I want you to have this most wonderful love. I want you to see in the flesh a picture of your relationship with Me, and enjoy materially and sincerely the everlasting union of beauty and perfection and love that I offer you Myself. I love you utterly. I AM God Almighty. Believe and be Satisfied.”

I'm currently doing a bible study called "Discerning The Voice Of God" by Priscilla Shirer and I feel like this message is something I hear daily (among others). I know without a doubt God has asked me to wait, seek Him, and be truly satisfied in the perfect love only He can provide. Sound familiar? What can I say...when God says "wait," he doesn't say how long...

Ladies, I know it's hard, but it's worth it. What you will find is infinitely more beautiful than what you can find in a "Mr. Right Now."

Moving On Up.

The last two months have been a whirlwind of excitement, new adventures and....decorating.

God is so good. I was offered a great job in Atlanta on July 25th, moved in with one of my sorority sisters July 28th, and started my new job August 1st.
Below is a little recap of my decorating obsession over the past 53 days.

Priority Number One? Make our little apartment a Home!

I absolutely love our living room, so let me tell you aalllll about it...

I found the fashion prints at Ross, yes Ross! They are stretched canvas and
go perfectly with the other black & white art we already had.

My roommate's mother painted the table silver to make it a little more modern.

The table is my absolute favorite. I spotted it at an antique store in Newnan, Ga. and couldn't leave without it. The teal crushed velvet seat cushions are in perfect condition and it was recently refinished. A perfect 1960's era find to match our TEAL and Mint theme!

This little mint green beauty was also purchased at an Atlanta antique store. In love.

Now here's where I got crafty...

Super easy DIY project.
1. Print an old map of your state on paper desired (I used cream linen).
2. Paint a wooden heart with gold glitter and adhere to print.
3. Frame and viola! Instant art.

I found this carriage-style dresser at a consignment store and picked it up for $40. A little sanding, primer, paint and a weekend out of my life later - a robin's egg blue dresser.
(The actual paint color is "Balmy Seas" by Behr)

The Canopy!
I've always wanted a canopy over my bed and I decided, why not? My bedroom needed some serious color and this did the trick.

Supplies:
2 - 80 x 80 inch curtains (I have a full bed so they were the perfect width. If your bed is larger buy 4 and bunch them instead of stretching across the board)
2 - 80 inch thin molding strips
1 - staple gun

1.Use one curtain as the swag over the bed and the second behind the bed.

2. Staple the back curtain to the first molding strip stretching to ensure it does not wrinkle (I need to steam mine).

3. Staple the second curtain to the second molding strip leaving 2+ feet to hang down over the bed.

4. Screw the molding strip that will become the swag to the ceiling at the desired distance from the bed. Make sure it is secure.

5. Swag the remainder to the wall and secure. Pulling tightly on both sides.

6. Secure the first molding to the crease of the ceiling and wall (with screws), covering the remaining swag fabric.

I still need a print to fill the space above each bedside table
and a lamp for the table on the left...suggestions?

These curtains aren't actually curtains at all! They're shower curtains! Bed, Bath and Beyond. I had the hardest time finding a fun, bright print, but I love these!

I like the clean sophistication of this one.

The "New" Southern Belle

One of my favorite must read editorials, Garden and Gun, recently published an article shining a new light on a "new generation of women who are redefining the Southern Belle."

The article is fabulous. I will not summarize or elaborate, because it truly speaks for itself.

"[Being Southern] also means never leaving the house with wet hair. Not even in the case of fire. Because wet hair is low-rent. It shows you don’t care, and not caring is not something Southern women do, at least when it comes to our hair.

This is less about vanity than self-respect, a crucial distinction often lost on non-Southerners. When a Southern woman fusses over her appearance, it does not reflect insecurity, narcissism, or some arrested form of antifeminism that holds back the sisterhood. Southern women are postfeminism. The whole issue is a nonstarter, seeing as Southern women are smart enough to recognize what works—Spanx, Aqua Net—and wise to the allocation of effort. Why pretend the world is something it isn’t? Better to focus on what you can control (drying your hair) and make the best of what you have. Side note: Southern women do not capitalize on their looks to snag men, though that often results. The reason we Southern women take care of ourselves is because, simply, Southern women are caretakers."

You can find the article in it's entirety here: http://gardenandgun.com/article/new-southern-belle

Raised in Georgia, I identify with the culture and traditions of a southerner. However, much of my family is scattered about the U.S. When family comes to visit from Colorado, Montana, New York, California, and even Canada, they are always surprised by the hospitality and meticulous planning that goes in to their visit. Apparently it is not normal behavior to place fresh towels out every morning, have coffee and breakfast ready, and every room of the house clean. It is mostly the cleanliness that throws them. Hospitality is truly important to us and something I learned at a young age; something that will always be appreciated and always done best by a Southerner.

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.

The end is near. I can't believe it's over.
An era of my childhood that has continued into my adult life...
I read "Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone" in 6th grade and
finished the final book this month.
Yes, I will most likely re-read them several more times throughout my life, but it is truly sad that something we come to love so much, and try to cling on to in adulthood, has to come to an end. Am I the only one sad about this...please say no...

This has been me for more than 11 years...
I can't even tell you how many times I've read the first book...don't tell....

Thankful Heart.

I read this today and found it to be spot on with what is going on in my life right now.
Thought I'd share :) It's amazing how God has been working in me lately.

"Draw near to Me with a thankful heart, aware that your cup is overflowing with blessings. Gratitude enables you to perceive Me more clearly and to rejoice in our Love-relationship. Nothing can separate you from My loving Presence! Whenever you start to feel anxious, remind yourself that your security rests in Me alone, and I am totally trustworthy."

"You will never be in control of your life circumstances, but you can relax and trust in My control. Instead of striving for a predictable, safe lifestyle, seek to know Me in greater depth. I long to make your life a glorious adventure, but you must stop clinging to old ways. I am always doing something new within My beloved ones."

DIY: Print Drawer Turned Jewelry Display

I found this old newspaper print storage drawer at a flea market a
few months back and had to have it!

I had seen them turned into earring displays on Etsy for $90++++ and decided I could not turn down the opportunity to turn my $15 find into a valuable piece of art/practical storage solution.

I decided to leave it as is, but you could paint yours for a different look.

Here is the FINISHED PRODUCT
(minus the fact that I need to invest in more dangly, sparkly, pretty earrings to fill it!)

Anyone who wants to help me fill the empty spaces...just sayin' :)

I ordered these tiny little eye-hooks on Ebay. They are the perfect size for this project and not available in any hardware stores I searched. Plus, I saved a TON...$3.50 for 100 hooks.

This has been a big crafting week for me for some reason!
I got this idea off of Pinterest and I'm in LOVE.

This little practical beauty was FREE. I already owned all the ingredients you see.
BONUS: Your bathroom always smells like coffee. I'd say that's a nice way to wake up!
(French Vanilla is my current "scent")

Color obsession - MINT green

I am currently obsessed with the color MINT! So fresh and pretty for summer. A little inspiration as follows:

Been rockin' the mint nails lately. Revlon makes the perfect shade.
I love how clean, simple, elegant and fresh this room is!
Very sophisticated without being stuffy.

and this...

I WANT THIS DRESS. Always a sucker for a one shoulder little number.

Beautiful. I like the long tables, tablecloths of course and the white flowers.
Simple, Southern and elegant.

Just because. I'm not a big biker...but I could be!
